  36. INSTALLATION:
  37. (Examples given here are just illustrations of how the
  38. installation can be done with a system that has the TRITEL BBS
  39. software on drive C and in a directory called \TRITEL. You will
  40. need to modify these examples to fit you system configuration.)

  42.      1.   Create a disk directory for the ALMANAC programs to
  43.           reside:
  44.           C:>MD \TRITEL\ALMANAC
  45.      2.   Copy all unzipped files to the disk  directory where
  46.           you wish to have the program reside:
  47.           C:>COPY A:*.* C:\TRITEL\ALMANAC
  48.      3.   If you wish to use ALMANAC as a program that is run as
  49.           an event copy the ALM.BAT file to the main BBS
  50.           directory:
  51.           C:>COPY C:\TRITEL\ALMANAC\ALM.BAT C:\TRITEL      4.   Using an ascii editor edit the ALMANAC.CFG file to
  52.           match your system configuration. Note: ALMANAC.CFG must
  53.           be in the directory that will be default when
  54.           ALMANAC.COM is executed.
  55.      5.   ALMANAC can be tested by going to the directory
  56.           containing the executable file and entering the program
  57.           name:
  58.           C:>CD \TRITEL\ALMANAC
  59.           C:\TRITEL\ALMANAC>ALMANAC

  62. USING ALMANAC.COM:
  63.  
  64.      ALMANAC is a stand-alone program that will create a daily
  65. almanac for display as either a logon file or a listing for a
  66. door. ALMANAC was designed for the TRITEL BBS system. For best
  67. results it would be best to operate ALMANAC as an event, however,
  68. it can be run independently. When the program is run a file will
  69. be created that will have:
  70. 1.   A header containing the name and phone number of the BBS
  71.      system along with the sysops name.
  72.  
  73. 2.   The date that the file was created. This is taken from the
  74.      systems date. 
  75.  
  76. 3.   If any users registered to the BBS have a birthday (Data is
  77.      taken directly for the User listing USERS.DAT located in the
  78.      WORK directory) they are noted directly following the date.
  79.  
  80. 4.   Events that occurred on this day in history will be shown
  81.      next. This data is taken from the file ALMANAC.EVE
  82.  
  83. 5.   Births of famous people will be next. This data is taken
  84.      form the file ALMANAC.BIR
  85.  
  86. 6.   Reminders for the day are posted next. This data is taken
  87.      form the file ALMANAC.REM
  88.  
  89. 7.   A quote for the day will be the last item entered. This data
  90.      is taken form the file ALMANAC.QUO.
  91.  
  92. It should be noted that if the files have no information to match
  93. the Month and Day items 3, 4, 5, and 6 will not be printed. The
  94. program will automatically place in the file a CLEAR THE SCREEN
  95. character at the beginning of the file and a MORE prompt at the
  96. end of the file. If listed the CLEAR THE SCREEN character will be
  97. a form feed causing some printers to feed a page of paper, and
  98. the MORE prompt will be a "^P".      ALMANAC.COM was written entirely in assembly language and
  99. compiled using Eric Isaacson's A86 MICRO ASSEMBLER (shareware).

  125. no charge for the distribution or time used in the download.

  128. software as long as there is no charge for the program or the
  129. connect time. When distributed by either of these means you must
  130. include all files listed in the contents section. If any file or
  131. part of a file is deleted or added to this software should not be

  153.      DEFINITIONS:

  155.           Single copy single user: When one copy of the software
  156.           is to be loaded into one system and to be used on only
  157.           that system.

  159.           Single copy multiple user: When one copy of the
  160.           software is to be loaded onto several systems but only
  161.           one system will have the software loaded into memory at
  162.           any time.
  163.  
  164.           Multiple copy multiple user: When more than one copy of
  165.           the software is loaded onto more than one system. It
  166.           could be possible that more than one system could be
  167.           using the software at any one time.
